"Zone Tripper" is worth the purchase price alone. Ain't nobody care about Kyle, Mountain of Smoke will continue to craft unique, synth enhanced doomy sludge with or without him, and Future Sins is fantastic. Stop by their covers album for more fun!
Favorite track: Zone Tripper.
PJ and Brooks and now Alex on the slide guitar thing country bands use, with Kyle Schutt I guess sometimes when not back with the Sword are my favorite local metal band here in the DFW. Seen them rock out down at the Double Wide or out supporting national acts at GMBG. (Fuck covid 2020) Just a great group of guys with a unique sound and hellraiser good time watching and listening too. A real Arby’s we have the meat sound
"For this release, main duo Brooks Willhoite (Vocals, Bass) and PJ Costigan (Drums) added Alex Johnson on pedal steel / synths, not to mention, The Sword’s Kyle Shutt on guitar! The two-piece version of the band never had any problem bringing the noise on their own, but with the addition of Johnson and Shutt, they have a deeper and more layered sound. The whole of Future Sins oozes the ominous and strange and showcases the depths Johnson and Shutt can bring to Costigan and Willhoite’s brutal template. Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Michael Briggs at Civil Audio in Denton, the 6-song collection sounds like Mountain of Smoke injected with human growth hormone and a healthy dose of LSD. No, the band hasn’t gone psych-rock. But, there’s some trippy moments here…

" I love the ominous and mystic atmosphere they create on several tracks. The use of synths and pedal steel work really well together with the brutal vocals, guitar riffs and punchy rhythms. This is really promising for the future of this band. Check out their music if you can. You’ll won’t be dissapointed."

I've loved this album since it came out in 2019. I remember listening to it almost every day, and it's still just as crushing today as it was back then. The ambiance, the production, the vibe, it's all excellent. Truly a hidden gem of stoner doom. zsharp68
